The Jharkhand State Secretariat of Communist Party of India (Marxist) has expressed warm greetings to the people of Jharkhand for historical success of today's state wide Bandh call against pro-corporate amendments in Chhotanagpur and Santhal Pargana Tenancy acts by the BJP led government.
CPI(M) has condemned police action including lathi charge, use of water canons & tear gas on peacefully demonstrating people at Main Road Ranchi.
At Ranchi police arrested left and opposition leaders including State Secretary Gopikant Baksi, Praful Linda, Ramchandra Thakur, Sukhnath Lohra of CPI(M), Bhuneswar Mehta (ex-MP and senior leader) of CPI, Janardan Prasad ( State Secretary) and Bhuneswar Kewat of CPI(ML), Hemant Soren (former Chief Minister & leader of opposition) of JMM, Babulal Marandi (former Chief Minister) and Pradeep Yadav (MLA) of JVM(P), Subodh Kant Sahay (former Union Minister for State) of Congress, State JD(U) leaders and Dayamani Barla (social activist). They were kept at Morabadi Stadium Camp jaill and released after 05:00 p.m.
It is to be noted that against pro-corporate amendments in CNT/SPT Acts the aforesaid political parties and social organizations organised a peaceful demonstration in front of the Jharkhand assembly, where police resorted to brutal lathi charge, water canon & tear gas use on the demonstrators on 23/11/2016.
The above mentioned leaders in a meeting at camp jail decided to hold demonstrations, mass meeetings and other forms of movement on 28th November as per All India Akrosh Diwas against demonetization at State Capital Ranchi, Head quarters of Commissionaires, Districts and other centres throughout the state.
